Valentine’s Day is such a marmite topic. Personally, I’m not afraid to show the people I love the most the love they deserve and Valentine’s Day is no different. I don’t tend to go above and beyond with presents (like I may do at Christmas time) but I’m a big believer in making the most of days like this and most importantly, learning to love yourself this Valentine’s Day.
Show Yourself Some Love, Before Someone Else
Before you jump in and begin obsessing over how you can show someone in your life some big grand gesture, take a little time to think about you, any amount of self-care will do. Remember this isn’t selfish; as a generation, we don’t look after ourselves so we need to actively do so, so this is perfect for you. After all, how can you expect someone to love you if you don’t already love yo’self?
Valentines Day Isn’t Just For Couples
I mean dude c’mon, it’s 2018. Whether you’re single, married, dating or sleeping around to your little heart’s content, you are a human being who deserves to be loved, with the capacity to show a little love too! Don’t write it off, use the opportunity to do something good for you or others, whether that’s romantic or not.
Fancy Yourself, Ya Little Heartbreaker
Filling your undie drawer with brand new Victoria’s Secret lingerie is certainly a step in the right direction for some but may not for others, so don’t forget that. Valentine’s day usually focuses on Love & Sex but there’s no reason you can’t explore just one of those. Do what makes you feel at your best, and if the other follows, then go geddit girl.

Look After Your Bank Balance
Let’s face it, most of us are only just getting over the holiday period. Dropping hundreds on a fancy trip or majorly expensive gifts may not be the best idea for some of us. Thankfully, the thought of showing love is on our side on Valentines. Give your partner a back massage with their favourite album on in the background, run them a bubble bath accompanied with a cup of tea or glass of wine, cook your favourite junk food snacks and play ps4 all night. Whatever it is, sometimes the smallest gestures will mean the world, I know they do to me.
Be Safe With Your Body & Heart
It goes without saying, but I feel the need to drop it in. If you are putting yourself out there, be it body or heart, be sensible, be safe and ensure you only ever do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Most of all, have some bloody fun!
